Trolley: The trolley is the unit that rolls along the length of the boom, carrying the hoist, hook and all associated chains, wires and wire ropes. Trolley can be moved manually, mechanically or pneumatically.
Hoist: The hoist is the part of the jib crane that lifts and lowers the load. It is manoeuvred into place by the combined action of the boom and the trolley.
Hook: The hook hangs off the hoist and connects the load to the jib crane. ‘Hook height’ defines how low and high the load can be lifted, and will depend on the size and limitations of the crane and any obstructions in the immediate area.
Pneumatic airlines/electric collector rings: These parts manage the airlines and power cables that run along the length of the boom to the hoist and under-hook attachments, keeping them out of the way as the trolley rolls and the boom rotates.
Rotation stop: As the name suggests, the role of this part is to ensure that the rotation of the crane is stopped before it collides with anything.
Control buttons: While some jib cranes are entirely manual, most feature buttons that control the rotation of the boom, the movement of the trolley along the boom, and the lifting and lowering of the hoist. You will also usually be able to control the speed at which the trolley and hoist move.
Reach/Boom– The horizontal beam that the trolley travels back and forth on.
Mast/Pillar– The vertical beam used to support the boom on freestanding and mast systems
Hoist – The movable hoist is used to lift, position, and lower a load.
Trolley– The trolley carries the hoist, wires, wire rope, and chains as well as the hook on the boom. The movement of the trolley can either be manual, mechanized or pneumatic.
Electrification/Pneumatic Powerprotective – Electric collector rings or pneumatic air lines can be added to the top or bottom of the mast to provide rotation assistance and allow for continuous 360° boom rotation.
Control Buttons – Motorized or air-powered jib systems use a push-button control system. The button controllers help to control the rotation of the boom and the motion of the trolley. This controller also controls the lifting and lowering movements of the hoist. The hoist and the trolleys also have multi-speed control buttons.
Hook Height – This refers to how high or low the lift can go. The lower the overhead obstruction means the higher the hook can go.

Column jib crane, also known as fixed column cantilever crane, is composed of a column, a swing arm rotation drive device and an electric hoist. The lower end of the column is fixed on the concrete foundation by anchor bolts, and the cycloid pin wheel deceleration device drives the swing arm to rotate. The electric hoist runs in a straight line on the I-beam of the jib arm and lifts heavy objects.
